Project Update
This year has brought exciting changes and a more purposeful focus to our summer training program. The training program has an excellent history of assisting our interns with the knowledge and skills they will need to successfully share their culture.
We have built on this foundation by adding a mentorship program to help grow and nurture our summer employees. During the first two weeks of training, individuals who have experience sharing their cultures were given interactive training on leadership skills, management techniques, cross-cultural awareness and in-depth teaching on Native history, values and culture. These mentors will then work throughout the summer with interns to help them build their knowledge and skills.
This is a first step to grow and expand our training program. More innovative changes in future years are still to come.
“Eventually we hope to offer a formal curriculum and accreditation to those who participate and successfully finish our program,” said Pat Partnow, VP of Education.
